Have you tried www.freecycle.org? It is meant for recycling, but they are popular email groups and everything is 100% free and you can request items. Go to the main site above and look for your state, then town and /or county. Good luck.

Just a heads up to anyone who uses these pages. I did post something before xmas in hopes that I might be able to make a nice holiday for my kids. I was contacted by someone who told me they were sending things and asked for the address. Next they said that the postage was too much and they wanted all my personal info including bank account number so they could "put money in" the account. Of course I did not do this. I was very upset that I told any other list I was on not to follow through and that my kids were getting gifts, and they received none. I am grateful, however, that I was smart enough to not fall into this. So everyone just be careful!

Hello.

I am looking for some aid with Christmas for my 2 great kids for christmas. I unfortunately have a degenerative disease and am very ill. My husband is in law enforcement and works very hard. However our income is low because I am in and out of hospitals constantly. Normally it is our family who are donating and helping often, but my illness is worse and that is putting stress on our finances.

I am hoping someone might find it in their hearts to help out my 2 children for xmas. I am not expecting nor asking for anything outrageous. Greedy we are not. Just some things for under the tree so the tree is not bare. I have a daughter, who is a high honors student that is 16, and a son who is 12 and has Autism and Adhd. I am proud of both, they brought home great report cards. My son , even though having the mentality of an 8 year old, is in an age appropriate grade (6) and is in mainstream classes and works hard and is passing with good grades!

I just would like to take the attention away from my illness and upcoming surgeries away from my children's minds for the holidays, and let them have some joy.
